5th Year LCVP trip to the Chocolate Warehouse
2. The 5th Year LCVP class went to the Chocolate Warehouse in Dublin on the 10th of October 2013. This was a great experience for all involved. Students learned about the history of chocolate, what's involved in setting up a business and also decorated and packaged their own chocolate. At the end each student received a Certificate of Participation. This visit out will also be part of the student's portfolio as they were required to prepare an Action Plan on it. Also thank you to Ms. Griffin and Mr. Moran for organising the trip.

School Business Partnership Programme:
Tullamore College was proud to be involved in the School Business Partnership Programme 2012/2013.
This programme involves the partnership of Tullamore College and local business Covidien.
This year the Fifth Year Link Modules class was involved in this unique and exciting partnership.
Students were involved in a Skills @ Work Programme, which provides students with a unique insight into the world of work. Over five sessions, students are provided with the opportunity to learn about the partnering company and its business and to consider career and further study options available to them when they finish school.
Sessions in the Skills @ Work programme involve site visits, mock interviews, Day in the Life insights, group discussion sessions with employees and CV writing skills.
In Covidien, it was the H.R. department who conducted the mock interviews and the students found this to be an invaluable experience as many of them have never had the experience of preparing for and performing in a professional business interview.
At the end of the year, students were involved in a wrap up session, where they had to do a presentation to staff members at Covidien about what they had learned over the course of the programme. This proved very beneficial in developing their teamwork skills, communication skills and confidence. Each student was awarded a Certificate of Merit on completion of the programme.
We look forward to continuing this school business partnership with Covidien.
