Successful Year for Pitch & Putt

Well done to the school pitch & putt team who brought honour to the school recently with their efforts in the Leinster and All Ireland competitions. The Leinster competition was played in Clara in October and included 47 school teams. The Tullamore Colllege team of Jack Carroll (6^th yr), Lee O’Meara (6^th yr) and Ciaran O Connor (3^rd yr) acquitted themselves very well on the day in tricky conditions and came in 4^th place and qualified for the All Ireland final as a result. In early November, the final was played in Kildare with the best 18 teams in the country from the four provinces competing for the All Ireland title. Again the Tullamore College team acquitted themselves extremely well and finished in 5^th place. This was a great achievement considering that over 150 schools took part in the initial phases of the competition. Well done to all concerned.

Tullamore College Pitch and Putt team trough to All-Ireland Finals 2013

Tullamore College competed recently at various golf events and had some great success. At the second annual Esker Hills school golf competition, Aidan Campbell was the outright individual winner with a score of 43 points. In the recent Leinster junior schools golf competition, Tullamore College finished an impressive 3rd out of 28 teams in a qualifying competition at The Heath. They then went onto  compete in  the Leinster final in Dublin and in difficult conditions, the team finished a very credible 7th. This is quite an achievement as over 70 teams in total competed in the competition.. The team consisted of Conor Casey, Damian Mooney and Steven O Connor, well done to the lads.

The senior golf team (Lee O Meara, Joe Joslin and Conor Casey) also competed in the senior competition and came up just short, finishing in 5th place out of 28, with only the top 3 teams qualifying for the final.

Meanwhile the Pitch and Putt team (Jack Carroll, Joe Joslin and Lee O Meara) qualified for the All Ireland final by finishing 6th out of 57 teams at the recent Leinster Pitch and Putt final in Lucan. In the final, played at Lakelands Pitch & Putt in Templemore, Tullamore College finished a very credible 12th in the country in a competition that had an extremely high standard. Well done to all concerned.
